Instagram is one of the hottest social media platforms right now. It’s a great place to grow your brand, but starting out can be seriously difficult to gain followers. So, let’s start with some ways to do so; let’s start with your niche.
Define Your Message And Niche
I always harp on this; prioritize your message and niche. What kind of value can you bring to the people in your follower base? Make that decision early. That might be hard to picture, so let me give you an example of how you can do it.
Let’s say you’re a cosplayer. You can provide value to everyone by posting pictures of their favorite characters brought to life. That’s real value to your followers and they’ll be more inclined to like your content, especially if you just seem like a relatable person. But, that alone without proper use of the platform won’t get you very far.
Proper Use Of Hashtags
You have to be able to use hashtags to promote your content on Instagram. Hashtags are a way to add your content to certain categories on Instagram. So, in the cosplay example, you would use “#cosplay” to get your post in the right topic. Now, that’s great, but not good enough.
“#cosplay” would work, but it’s too broad. By using more limiting hashtags, we can get more views. This is because the more general the hashtag, the faster your content will disappear from the top. In that case, we have to use more specific hashtags with your general ones.
So if you were doing Pokemon cosplay, you would use tags such as “#pokemon, #pokemoncosplay #eeveecosplay”. This will increase visibility, which leads me to my last major point: use as many hashtags as relevant. Don’t just use a few; use a lot to increase exposure on Instagram.
Now, there’s one more thing I’ll mention to increase your chances.
After The Post
Engage with users on your post, as the Instagram algorithm will consider your post more impactful if people comment on it.
You also gain more by simply talking to people within your niche. If you genuinely support them, they might support you in return. Pay attention and interact with their content to further grow your following. As they say; you have to help others first for them to help you get what you want.
